This is an early edition, so the slate starts with one boring but important sentence: lineups were not posted in the source. Hitter props are watch-list items until the cards are real. I know, thrilling. Put it on a mug.
The actual betting board is much cleaner than the spreadsheet first looks. Twenty-six K props were reviewed, and only two survived the tightened rules: Carlos Rodon over 4.5 and Cristian Javier under 4.5. Everything else is either price-dependent, lineup-dependent, or carrying enough variance to make a person start bargaining with small samples.
The best totals edges from our model are MIA-PHI over 8.0, WSH-TEX over 8.0, and SEA-MIL over 7.5. Those are not automatic plays, but they are the first totals I would re-check once lineups land.
NYY at BAL (6:35 PM ET)
Rodon is the clean K-over call on the board. Baltimore's strikeout rate is the big green light, and Rodon's recent log is steady: six, five, seven, seven, seven. The posted 4.5 is the number that matters.
The price is the annoying part. At -158, this is more of a builder leg than a stand-alone “look at me, I have opinions” play. Shane Baz is a pass because his recent K spread is too chaotic.
Targets: Rodon over 4.5 strikeouts; check Rodon over 5.5 as the better alt if FanDuel offers a fair price; pass Baz K props.
STL at CIN (6:40 PM ET)
Cincinnati strikes out enough to make Kyle Leahy interesting in theory, but the gap is not wide enough at the expected numbers. Andrew Abbott gets a low-K St. Louis lineup profile, and the Cardinals have been hot enough to keep the under side in mind only if the line is generous.
The game total has only a small over lean, so this is not where I want to force an early build.
Targets: Pass main K props; Abbott under 5.5 only if that number appears; slight over lean but not a priority.
SF at CLE (6:40 PM ET)
The model total is higher than the FanDuel number, which makes the over the first look here. Carson Whisenhunt has a rough run-prevention profile, and San Francisco's bullpen has not been helping much either.
For strikeouts, Foster Griffin has enough leash but too much variance. Whisenhunt under 4.5 would be the only K angle I would check, and even that is more of a price-dependent note than a card leg.
Targets: SF-CLE over 8.0 as a totals check; Whisenhunt under 4.5 if offered; pass Griffin K props.
DET at PIT (6:40 PM ET)
This game has the shape of a Pittsburgh script if the right numbers appear. Keider Montero has three recent starts at one strikeout or fewer, and Pittsburgh's offense has been hot. Braxton Ashcraft has real K ability, but the model did not let the main number through the final filter.
The clean pre-lineup idea is not to get greedy. Montero under 4.5 and Ashcraft over 4.5 are both useful if those alt numbers exist, but neither made the final K card at the posted board.
Targets: Track Montero under 4.5; track Ashcraft over 4.5; PIT angle if lineups support it.
MIA at PHI (6:40 PM ET)
This is the biggest run-total gap on the board. FanDuel has 8.0, while our model is much higher and sees a Philadelphia-driven game script. Wheeler against Cade Gibson is the reason the Phillies side makes sense.
Wheeler is the analyst-model debate of the slate. The trend says over, with recent strikeout counts climbing hard, but the posted 7.5 under has model resistance and the final rules kept it off the card. Translation: respect the ceiling, do not pretend the risk disappeared.
Targets: MIA-PHI over 8.0; PHI ML for builders; Wheeler over 7.5 only if you are comfortable taking the trend over the model's caution.
TOR at TB (6:40 PM ET)
This is a bad K-over environment. Tampa and Toronto are two of the lower-strikeout teams on the slate, and the arms do not create enough certainty to overcome that.
Nick Martinez under would be interesting only if the market gives 4.5. At 3.5, the cushion gets too thin. Toronto is also missing Vlad Guerrero Jr., which is a real lineup note before building anything around the Jays.
Targets: Martinez under 4.5 if offered; pass Soriano K overs; TB ML is a small model lean, not a priority.
AZ at BOS (7:10 PM ET)
Boston is a moderate model side, but the game still needs lineups. Merrill Kelly has the kind of profile you can under if the number is inflated, but the posted 3.5/4.5 area is not giving away enough.
Ranger Suarez has strikeout ability, but Arizona's contact profile makes the over less clean. This is a watch game more than a card game.
Targets: BOS ML as a secondary builder check; Kelly under only at 4.5 or better; pass Suarez unless the line is friendly.
SD at NYM (7:10 PM ET)
The model likes the Mets more than the market does, making NYM the best scout-tier side. The run total only has a slight over lean, so this is more about side price than total.
Robbie Ray's K projection sits too close to the likely line. Zac Thornton under becomes interesting only at 4.5. With the Mets bullpen in strong recent form, Thornton does not need to be stretched if trouble shows up.
Targets: NYM ML; Thornton under 4.5 if offered; pass Ray K props.
ATL at MIN (7:40 PM ET)
Atlanta is one of the stronger model sides, even with recent form not exactly wearing a cape. Minnesota has been cold, and the Braves get the cleaner moneyline look at -121.
The K board does not have much for me here. Tyler Mahle is gated by limited recent starts, and Zebby Matthews does not have enough gap against a lower-K Atlanta profile.
Targets: ATL ML; pass Mahle and Matthews K props; re-check Braves bats after lineups.
ATH at KC (7:40 PM ET)
Jack Perkins has the kind of strikeout rate that can lure you into a bad decision, but the 7.27 ERA and Kansas City's lower strikeout profile keep him off the card. High K arm, bad run prevention, low-K opponent. Congratulations, we have invented anxiety.
Kansas City's starter was not confirmed in the source, which blocks any full game build. The Royals are still a lineup watch because Perkins can give up damage.
Targets: Pass Perkins K props; wait for KC starter; check KC bats after lineups.
SEA at MIL (7:40 PM ET)
This is one of the better totals checks. The market sits at 7.5, while our model is closer to the mid-nines. That gap gets attention.
The strikeout props do not. Bryce Miller has a terrifying zero-strikeout floor in the recent sample, and Kyle Harrison has the ceiling but also extreme variance and a shorter leash.
Targets: SEA-MIL over 7.5; pass Miller K props; Harrison over 4.5 only as a plus-money track, not a main play.
CWS at CHC (8:05 PM ET)
The Cubs are a moderate model side, but the White Sox starter was still TBD in the source. That keeps the game-side read incomplete.
Gausman is the K debate. The model says under 6.5 at the posted line, but the analyst read wants over 5.5 if that alt exists because the White Sox strike out, Gausman has a long leash, and one bad 1-K start is dragging the profile around.
Targets: Gausman over 5.5 if offered; pass at 6.5; CHC ML only after CWS starter is confirmed.
WSH at TEX (8:05 PM ET)
The model sees a real over gap here, with the posted total at 8.0 and the projection much higher. Texas has been ice cold, which makes it uncomfortable, but Washington's pitching side and the dome setup keep the over live.
Jackson Kent is a pass because one start is not a sample. Cal Quantrill under 4.5 is the K check if that number appears, mostly because of the short leash and low strikeout base.
Targets: WSH-TEX over 8.0; Quantrill under 4.5 if offered; pass Kent K overs.
LAA at HOU (8:10 PM ET)
This is where the second official K play lives. Javier under 4.5 looks counterintuitive because the Angels strike out a lot, but the leash is the point. His recent pitch counts and run prevention do not give him much room to use the matchup.
Klassen is a pass because the sample is too small. The total leans over, but the cleanest call is still Javier under.
Targets: Javier under 4.5 strikeouts; check Javier under 3.5 if the app offers a safer alt; LAA-HOU over 9.0 as a secondary totals check.
LAD at COL (8:40 PM ET)
The model likes the Dodgers side, but the total is basically sitting where it should be. Coors will always try to make you do something undignified, but 11.5 leaves less room than the name value suggests.
Eric Lauer under 4.5 is a check if offered. Ryan Feltner is too volatile to trust either way, and the Dodgers moneyline is expensive enough that it needs a builder purpose.
Targets: LAD ML for builders; Lauer under 4.5 if offered; pass Feltner K props; total is close to fair at 11.5.
Availability Gates
Before lock, verify lineups, alt K prices, and the two uncertain starter spots from the source: Kansas City against the Athletics and the White Sox against the Cubs. Hitter props should stay provisional until lineups are actually posted.
News notes to keep in mind: Rodon is active for New York, Vlad Guerrero Jr. is out for Toronto, Yoshida is out for Boston, Skenes was skipped for Pittsburgh, DeLauter is questionable for Cleveland, and Miami's bullpen is missing Nardi.
TLDR
Official K card: Rodon over 4.5 strikeouts at -158, Javier under 4.5 strikeouts at -113.
Alt K checks: Rodon over 5.5, Javier under 3.5, Wheeler over 7.5, Gausman over 5.5, Ashcraft over 4.5, Montero under 4.5, Martinez under 4.5, Thornton under 4.5, Quantrill under 4.5, Lauer under 4.5.
Best sides: LAD ML, NYM ML, ATL ML, PHI ML, CHC ML after the White Sox starter is confirmed.
Best totals: MIA-PHI over 8.0, WSH-TEX over 8.0, SEA-MIL over 7.5, SF-CLE over 8.0, LAA-HOU over 9.0.
Hard passes: Kent overs, Mahle overs, Klassen overs, Soriano overs, Baz, Miller, Harrison as a main-card play, Perkins, Feltner, Cade Gibson K props, and anything built on missing lineups.
Notes to Watch
The line is juiced, so it fits better in a builder than as a heroic single.
The leash and recent form matter more than the matchup bait.
