MLB August 19 Evening Games

The August 19 evening board starts with the pulse games: St. Louis at plus money, Milwaukee against cold Seattle, Philadelphia's hot lineup, and a live Angels value angle in Houston.

The evening slate is where the pulse board gets useful. The early window already gave us one lesson: workload beats talent when a team is managing a starter. Skenes had the strikeout stuff, but Pittsburgh kept him to four innings. Keep that in mind for any pitcher prop where the workload story is not clean.

For the night games, I want the plus-money St. Louis angle first, Milwaukee as the cleanest favorite, Philadelphia because the lineup is scary, and the Angels as the late value swing. Prices still need a fresh check before lock.

MIA at PHI (6:05 PM ET)

Philadelphia is the hot-team side. Schwarber, Turner, Harper, Arraez, and Bohm give the Phillies a real top-five, and the pulse index strongly prefers Philadelphia even with the model creating some Miami tension.

Bohm is the hitter note because the recent total-base production does not look like a one-game mirage. Alcantara strikeout overs remain downgraded against this contact profile.

Targets: PHI moneyline, Bohm 2+ total bases, game over 8.5, pass Alcantara strikeout overs.

NYY at BAL (6:35 PM ET)

Baltimore is the value side if you want the plus-money lean. The Orioles' top of the order has more power than the Yankees' current top three, and the model edge points toward Baltimore.

Pete Alonso is the clean bat note from this matchup. If you want less volatility, the 1+ hit version is the calmer path.

Targets: BAL moneyline, Alonso 1+ hit, Alonso 2+ total bases, NYY team total under 4.5.

TOR at TB (6:40 PM ET)

This is the risky contrarian game. Tampa is expensive, Toronto has no Vlad Guerrero Jr., and the pulse still nudges toward the Blue Jays after yesterday's offensive pop.

The K angle is Scherzer under 3.5 because Tampa does not strike out much and Scherzer's recent log is not clearing that number comfortably.

Targets: TOR moneyline as a long-shot pulse play, over 7.5, Scherzer under 3.5 strikeouts.

SF at CLE (6:40 PM ET)

Cleveland is the side, but the price is the problem. The Giants are fading hard enough to support the read, while the Guardians have enough model agreement to be the right direction.

The better betting discussion is Parker Messick under 6.5 strikeouts. If the moneyline is too expensive, that is the cleaner way to express the San Francisco-contact angle.

Targets: Messick under 6.5 strikeouts, SF team total under 3.5, CLE moneyline only if the price softens.

STL at CIN (6:40 PM ET)

This is my favorite late frame. St. Louis is surging, Cincinnati is cold, and the pulse gap is the biggest on the evening board. The plus-money price is the reason this gets first look.

Burleson and Walker are the bat notes. Burleson is the total-base version; Walker is the safer 1+ hit leg. Cincinnati's tired bullpen is part of the St. Louis case.

Targets: STL moneyline, Burleson 2+ total bases, Walker 1+ hit, CIN team total under 3.5.

SEA at MIL (7:40 PM ET)

Milwaukee is the clean favorite on the board. The Brewers have the largest positive pulse delta, Seattle is cold, and Milwaukee's bullpen profile supports the lower-scoring script.

Jake Bauers batting third is the practical bat angle. The under 7.0 is live if the number is still there, but make sure the price has not run away.

Targets: MIL moneyline, under 7.0, Bauers 1+ hit, SEA team total under 3.5.

ATH at KC (7:40 PM ET)

Kansas City gets the pulse lean, but this one still needs the Athletics lineup. The Royals top five is good enough to build around if the pitching matchup and price hold.

Bobby Witt Jr. batting second is the simplest hitter note. Keep it simple until the full lineup is confirmed.

Targets: KC moneyline, Witt Jr. 1+ hit, game over 8.5, wait for the full Athletics lineup.

WSH at TEX (8:05 PM ET)

This is more under than side. Washington is one of the coldest offenses on the board, but Texas has not exactly been loud either, so the total is the cleaner first thought.

Texas is the pulse side at a playable favorite price, but I would rather pair it with Washington run suppression than pretend the Rangers offense is humming.

Targets: TEX moneyline, WSH team total under 3.5, game under 7.5.

LAA at HOU (8:10 PM ET)

This is the best late value side if you are comfortable taking a road dog. The Angels get both the model edge and the pulse lean, while Houston comes in cold.

Walbert Urena over 4.5 strikeouts is the pitcher check, but the side is the cleaner story. Houston's offense has been quiet enough to keep the under alive too.

Targets: LAA moneyline, Urena over 4.5 strikeouts, game under 8.5.

LAD at COL (8:40 PM ET)

Coors is the high-total game, and the Dodgers side is too expensive to be the main angle. The total and Dodgers bats are the better ways in.

Ohtani is always dangerous here, but the safer construction is hit or total-base exposure instead of forcing a homer. Muncy is the secondary total-base note if he is in the lineup.

Targets: over 11.5, Ohtani 1+ hit, Ohtani 2+ total bases, Muncy 2+ total bases if confirmed.

Slate Shortlist

First strikeout checks: Urena over 4.5, Messick under 6.5, Scherzer under 3.5.

Hit props I want to revisit first: Bauers 1+ hit, Walker 1+ hit, Witt Jr. 1+ hit, Alonso 1+ hit, Ohtani 1+ hit.

Builds that make the most sense on first pass: STL plus money with Burleson or Walker, MIL with the under, PHI with Bohm, LAA plus money with the game under.

Availability Gates

Before lock, verify prices, weather, and final lineups. Athletics and Dodgers-Rockies lineup status was still incomplete in the source, and Coors needs one last weather check.

St. Louis Cardinals moneylineSTL at CIN

Cincinnati's cold offense and tired bullpen make the plus-money side worth the first look.

Milwaukee Brewers moneylineSEA at MIL

Seattle's cold offense and bullpen form put Milwaukee on the short list.

Philadelphia Phillies moneylineMIA at PHI

The lineup shape and contact profile are the reasons to prefer the Phillies side over the earlier Alcantara K-over idea.

Houston's cold offense makes this the late value side, but it is still a higher-variance road dog.
